Lesson Objective

SWBAT: write a 4 or 5 CMT writing prompt in 45 minutes.

Lesson Plan

Lesson Plan

Students are given a writing prompt (see attached) and a time limit of 45 minutes (the time alloted for the state standardized test).

Have students read the prompt to themselves as you read the prompt aloud.  Remind students to plan using the strategy you've worked on in class.  In addition, quickly review the 6 punches to a knock out paragraph before the students start and the acronym T.I.E.E.  This can be done by either another actor or just a call and response.

Tell the students they will recieve two grades: a score of one to six for the introduction and Body paragraphs and an overall score of one to six (per state standards).

Put 45 minutes on the clock, and let the students work.
