Lesson Objective

Students will use examples from talented writers to construct their own creative hooks/leads for their writing.

Lesson Plan

-Have student volunteer students read an assortment of strong leads.

-Compile a class list of different strategies authors used to hook the reader.

-As a class, identify the different strategies authors used in constructing their leads.

-Have students analyze a few independently.

-Students write 3 possible leads for their own current writing project.
